Puppet shows
We offer many kind of puppet shows to entertain children under the age of 10.
Many different types of puppets are used to in the shows, like glove-, table top puppets, marionettes, wooden spoon figurines and lot more.
Some plays are pantomime style, with music, suitable for small children.
Shadow play
Shadow puppets originate from ancient Eastern Asia and are often regarded as the most vivid and flexible form of puppetry.
Shadow puppetry is done in a darkened room, against a flat semi-transparent screen, with a light from behind.
Puppets are often made from cardboard, plywood and coloured cellophane. Sometimes glowing objects also involved in the storytelling.
Children and adults equally enjoy shadow puppetry performances.

Kamishibai

The Japanese word Kamishibai literally means 'paper theatre' and it is a form of storytelling, where the story is illustrated on larger cards.
This Japanese art form transforms storytelling int
a theatrical show, which helps children to pay more attention and focus on the story. The illustrations came in different colourful styles, from professional artists – each illustration is basically like a page of a storybook. The images fill the entire card and are presented facing the audience. Unlike in a book, the pictures in a Kamishibai slide one on top of the other. The story is on the back of the cards to help the storyteller. Music and instruments can make the show more interesting.
Puppet making workshops
Would you like to learn how to make simple puppets from different materials?
Puppetry Club Cambridge offers puppet making workshops for children and their parents.
We help you to learn how to make simple puppets, like sock puppets or wooden spoon puppets in a friendly and stimulating atmosphere.
Arts & crafts is a great fun. Children can make puppets using various materials (things that can be found at home) and techniques.
Creating your own puppet not only boosts your creativity, but can improve mental wellbeing too. These are group sessions, where you can get inspired, share, and perform to the other with your own puppet.
Sessions are typically last for about 1-2 hours.
